mines has 4 fronds comming apart now and 4 near spears pushing... all I can say it water water water. the pot its in dosen't even have drain holes. as long as I keep it wet I don't get brown tips either..undecided if its going on the patio in summer or not..doubt it would look very good after a few weeks of 100+ temps

water water water.

You're probably right, Mike, as I've tried watering it the same (now and then) as the CIDP, with bad results.

No drain holes? wow...for a palm? ouch.

But I'll try watering it lots and see if it recovers.

You're right about heat, though.
My CIDP is in full sun, morning to night, loves it.
Yet the PDP fries in the sun.
Strange.

I water the PDP about once a week with a normal glass of water..if the soil is dry all the way to the bottom I water with 2 glasses. I know no drain holes sounds bad but mine just cannot get enough water it is always dry to the bottom of the pot and I am having good results..if it goes into decline any time soon I will update. it is reflective sunlight as well near a medium size window. from the time I got it till now it has really opened up and spread its fronds..if it had about a 6 ft trunk on it it would look magical.

Decided to try it...I put a saucer under my PDP pot, and drenched the plant with water.
Not letting it drain.

Thanks for the water, water, water tip.

I was having problems with brown tips and the palm seemed to keep a very upright appearance not letting the fronds arch over. once I started giving it more water it was pushing fronds and opening up in about 2 weeks. IDK where they come from naturally but they must get alot of water there..or maybe we have the "big box store" breed that craves water due to not so quality employees letting them thirst to death 😀

Might've learned that from us.

Brought out the Ribbon Palm, Mule Palm and "Cape Hatteras" Sable Palm. While not in the ground "yet" they over wintered just find in garage and looking forward to being outside all the time, as I may bring them inside at night for a week or more yet.

Took the plunge and took protection cylinder off Mexican Fan Palm, but left the heat tape around the root ball plugged in still....just in case.

Not going to ground plant the Mule, at least not yet. Going to leave in in grow pot at least one year, and then if I repot have the perfect sized 1/2 barrel I can plant it in.
