90-100f inside the hut

Wow, plenty warm enough.
And if your 30s at night are gone (for good), now's the time.

Need some help. I uncovered my pindo last month it was green but then The bottom are all turning yellow and brown. I cut the lowest ones off about a week ago now the next level of leaves are turning yellow. There is new growth coming out but real slow and not as green as it should be almost yellow looking. I put Epsom salt on plus fertlizer. What am I doing wrong.

Got a pic of the yellowing pindo?

And the next Q, the greenish look of the inflorescence makes me guess male.
At least on my Trachy which is all I know.

But should wait until they're fully open.

Let me know what ya think. It's worse in person. Black dots and brown tips almost 2 inches down the leaf.

Looks fine to me, Tony.
Maybe it's just settling in.

When palm leaves naturally yellow, it's always the oldest ones.

Tony,

Windmill looks fabulous.
I haven't cut off my LAST YEAR'S inflorescences yet 😆 😆

As for the Pindo, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it when you first showed pics.
As long as the oldest fronds are the only ones yellowing, that's a normal process.

Maybe others have a different opinion but I think it's fine.

Asking the same question again. Is it safe to take off protection. Looks like we are going to be in the 50-60 next week with 30s at night. I lost the pindo 😥 But I still have the windmill. Thanks all.

Tony, sad the Pindo's gone.
But don't yank it out yet, maybe there's some green waiting to push up.

Long range weather f/cast will answer your Question.
Is it trending upward?
Or tanking again in a week or two?

Tony, That Pindo is really amazing looking! Would love to have one in the ground that looks that good.

What size was it when you bought it, and how long has it been in the ground again?

What kind of heat did you give it as well?

The forecast looks just above freezing for the next week or two. My pindo got sick last year and in the fall I did some construction and my friend backed over the pindo with a dump truck so it's RIP for the pindo. I got the both of the palms from chilly palms in April of 2012 windmill was a 30 gallon and pindo was the next size down. I build a pipe frame out of conduit I put three 75 watt outdoor floods on a Johnson Conrols A419ABG-3C set at 32f the controls are in my shed and the temp bulb is in the hut. So if needed I could override the Johnson Conrols A419ABG-3C. Then I wrap shrink wrap the whole way up then 6mill over that and then another layer of shrink wrap and I through a tarp over the top to keep the rain out.

Tony, with all that shrink wrap, hopefully it has a chance to breath, but keeping it dry is key. With temps yo-yo-ing this time of year, the lows have to be more consistent. Sunday may just be the day around here +10C range... I'll be removing the boxes, but leaving the wrap and heat mechanisms around them. There will be more cold snaps for sure.
