Last spring my Trachycarpus forunei 'Nainital' flowered for the first time. I noticed what appeared to be a mix of both male and female flowers on the same stocks, something I'd never seen before. 😯 I have (rarely) seen male and female stocks on the same palm but on completely separtate flower stocks, never mix on the same one.
The green buds are female and the pale yellow are male. Today I noticed seed set on these so in effect, the palm has cloned itself.
Cheers, Barrie.
Spring infloresence (male female mix)
Seed set from the same palm.
