I have a palm that I am not sure what it is but I am rather confident it is either a Triangle or a CIDP.
It's leaves are very feathery and are coming out in a typical "palm" way from the center and not laying out in a "triangle"pattern like the Triangle palm does.
However, it is about a foot tall, with a "trunk" of about 7". It has a noticable "ball" at the base, but as it gets comes up, it has a mild form that has three sides. It also has little black specs on it's trunk but none of any leafs.
So I was wondering if somebody had a CIDP sapling pic that I could compare it to.
I have some a year old & some that just sprouted...
Thanks. Mine (the one I need the comparison) is a lot bigger than that but that pic is very helpful to me as I do have about 40 seedlings that are between those pics. That tells me about what growth I can expect.
Also, I REALLY like you idea of putting a tie wrap around the trunk to see the gowth.
Do you have any pics of CIDP about 2 times the size of the bigger one in that pic?
If I can get my Mom's camara, I can just take a pic of mine and then you can ID maybe.
It maybe be a bottle palm. Just from the description of the base.
Wes they start to feather when they get a little bit bigger. The large one should have some feather leaves this summer.
Here are some 2yr CIDP's
And a couple smaller Triangles
And a little larger one...... 8)

AWSOME Steve. After seeing that, I see I definatly have a Triangle Palm.
Mine still has two of those "two leafed leafs" and the rest are the regular feather leafs (6-7 leafs).
😳 I REALLY wanted a good CIDP, but I do have about 50 of the size that Laaz posted pics of.
Well, at least I know now, I have a VERY healthy Triangle Palm.
Not to confuse things, but yours looks more like a Dypsis lutescens, ( Butterfly Palm, Golden Cane Palm....... 🙂

OH NO!!! 😆 😆 😆 😆
What ever it is, I like it. It came from you Steve, if that helps. It is one of the best results thru this last Winter that I had. Kept it on the dry side.
I know there is at least one in the GH, I'll get a photo of it tomorrow and we'll see ...lol
