I didn't get a good pic of the "trunk" but I am VERY happy as the base of the trunk is expanding a whole bunch this year.

Yours looks further along than mine 8)
Did you have it in full sun?

Nope, just in the greenhouse. However it WAS in the southern most wall of the greenhouse.
I wish I could have gotten a better pic of the "trunk". It is REALLY swelling up.

It seems you must have found the perfect spot for it.
Congrats on your Zamia coning! I'm hoping some of mine will be large enough to in the next couple years.

Steve, I was so afraid I lost this palm this Winter. All the leaves dried and died off this Winter except the center leaf. I never gave up hope, aven after cutting leaf after leaf off.
I was so happy a couple weeks ago when I noticed that it was starting a new leaf. Well today I am even happier to report that it is a split leaf!! I will take a picture of it later this week as I moved everything from the basement (where this was) out to the greenhouse as we are expected to be done with the REALLY REALLY cold single digits I think.
I have noticed also that, and wanted to see if your has done this too, the "trunk" has REALLY gotten big around at the base. Almost looks like a cycad caudex, but with a palm coming out.

Wes, Mine did better this Winter as compared to last, think this is one that will develop some cold tolerance as it ages.
( definitely does not like cold at the seedling stage 😀

Here are some observations on H.coriacea; http://207.210.245.133/ms/observations/show_all/details.html?pid=261

Will try to get some photos of mine today,

Steve
