HOLY CRAP JIM!

Do you have to hand pollinate the needle?

Yea,I think you would need to pollinate it.

I really wonder whether it is big enough to support any seed production.......

if not,I will probably remove them-even though I would like to watch the process.

Also need to find out if it is male or female....... would be cool to cross with some Waggie pollen!

Since they grow so slow you would have to assume theyd flower young/small.

IF youre worried maybe remove all but one spathe? Put the energy into one?

I think they are actually pretty fast when in their happy spot.

This one seems to be flowering young and I will probably remove everything so it can focus on growth.

Unless I find some pollin to try 😀

This palm perhaps will be growing faster if you would remove the inflorescences. I found a couple of inflorescences has been developing by my Chamaerops Vulcano about a month ago. BTW they have withered...

That's so exciting, Jim.
Take some more pics please before you remove them.

Yeah, a needle waggy cross would be something to gawk at!

Great work, Jim! You should try to hand-pollinate them 😆

The production of seed stalks does not interfere with the production of new leaves in fertile soil. They are different processes. My Chamaerops humilis var. cerifera as well as needle palms are pushing out 4-6 flower stalks and 2-3 leaves at the same time.

Ah, that's good to know (so people don't cut the flowers off).
Thanks!
