In my opinion it is just some shady marketing. Piru queen palm is a regular Syagrus. I believe they get there stock from Moon Valley Nurseries slapped the name Piru on it because that is the little town in which they grow it. They claim it is from Argentine decent.

I would suggest you google Piru Queen palm before considering purchasing them. The only good reviews are from the nurseries pushing this palm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mmbVNFyO-I
