Has anyone ever hand pollinated Trachycarpus? My palm is just starting to flower now, it seems behind everybody elses. Last year when we got it, the inflorescences appeared to be female. My male palm will be lucky if it lives never mind flowers. I can get a male infloresence/pollen, but wasn't sure how finicky it is, should I freeze it, just shake off the pollen in a bag? Do anyone have any experience with this process?
Thanks

The males are usually first to start flowering followed shortly by the females. The only time I have a hand in pollenation was when I clipped a male flower stock and placed in with the flowering female. I'd never heard of doing that, I just kinda dreamt it up I guess. It did work very well but I've not done it since.
Sorry I missed you the other day. Would have been nice to show you around and meet your other half.

Cheers, Barrie.

Thanks Barrie
I'll give it a try. We were in Vancouver yesterday, and the palms are so much further along there, I'm just hoping mines not to late for a date 🙂 I'll try to drop by again sometime soon, I would love to see how your place is progressing
