I would just like to say hi from Nova Scotia, We also like to experiment with Palms and subtropicals here. I have a Trachycarpus Fortunei, a non-hardy banana, ficus carica, Fatsia and a few others. Next year i'm buying a Silk tree, Southern Magnolia, Bamboo, Monkey Puzzle, Musa Basjoo and a few more. Hopefully we can get some mild winters again. Nova Scotia ranges from z7a in the south west to 4b in the Northern part. Halifax is z6a in the suburbs and z6b downtown. I live in the Annapolis Valley which is z5b to z6b, I live in the z5b/6a part which means lots of winter protection.

What is everyone else growing?

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Hey Everyone

I just planted the Trachycarpus in the ground about 2 weeks ago. I hope to get atleast a Musa Basjoo and Southern Magnolia( i don't have enough money right now to get the rest) How late can i plant a S. Mag. in a marginal zone like i am in? Is June too late?

I'll keep you updated through the summer and next spring.
