I left out my chinese fan palm in the ground and it did well in the frost but some new shoots had died. I don't know why were are getting frost so early. My rhododendron had lost some leaves. It dropped to -2C. We had a heavy severe frost that my tomatos died in it. I had a very bad garden year. I lost 6 trees, 9 plants, 2 shrubs most have been burnt by the heat and some were killed by a deadly frost. 17 all together died this year. Im not bying any thing else expect a Yucca Rostrata.

Anyone had their first frost?

I had frost back in Aug. of this year. It froze my hose and even made an ice-cycle. It was not the only one either, three other frosts sence then 🙂

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

We have had about 4 so far including over the weekend while we were up north. I finally pulled out my tomatoes last thursday. the frost has had no impact so far except on my dahlias. Everything else is doing fine. All of my palms etc. have been inside since before the first frost.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

No frost anywhere here on Vancouver Island and not expected until about mid November. If the El-nino builds as forecsted, we may not see a frost until after Xmas.

Cheers, Barrie.

Our cooler valleys on the island here saw some patchy ground frost a few days ago. Nothing here yet and I don't expect it for a while. Lowest temp. here so far was 44.4 F. Cheers, Joe
