Abyssinian-grown the most of the "Nanars"

Nainital finally recovering from spear-pull.

1 of 3 (real) Takil I have planted this spring.

Couple(3) one in the ground-of T.Princeps,also E.Princeps,2 Filibusta,1 Bizzy and 2 C.Volcano(X)Cerifera seedlings.

Jim, that Abyssinian has only been in the ground for 1+ week...and look how it's exploded with growth.
Beautiful.
You say you're waiting for warmth...heck your place looks like summer already.
Three leaves on Washies...incredible this soon.
Looking forward to seeing what the Takil does in one season (now that we get to see a real one)!
Mystery plant: the only fuzzy blue leafed plant I can think of is Mullein, but that's not it 😐
It'll be neat to watch the Gloriosa branch.

The Abyssinian was planted April 1st or 2nd,this picture is from April 12th
it didn't do anything until about the 8th or 9th of May.
it's moving now though....70(f) seems to be the magic temp.
I think your right about the name of the plant(Mullein),have to see what the flowers are like. 😀
I was hoping the Gloriosa would get bigger,hope it gets another shoot from the top.
The takil will definitely be a fun one to watch grow-finally!

What's the ultimate size of an Abyssinian anyway?
Can you just imagine how thick that trunk is going to get? 😯
Yellow flowers on the mystery plant?
Maybe it is Mullein...although I saw one near a fenceline here that was 6 feet tall.

Jim great start to the growing season for you. Good to see that T. nainital recovering from that spear pull. I just planted one a month ago about the same size as yours. I hope it does as well.

Very cool. They at first always look like thy are struggling and then BAM, all of a sudden they go insane! Excellent!

Jim, it's so amazing! I know your Abyssinian is the monster overwintering inside but the tree ferns are something surprised me very much!

I think they can get to 30-40'?,or at least E.ventricosum can,
I planted one of those too,along with E.glaucum-Snow Banana. 😀

This Nainital is one of the fast ones,IMO there seems to be 2 strains
with these,one is usually very kinked in the trunk,light colored(yellowish),
at least until it get's bigger and grows very slow.
The other is much more green,somewhat straighter and extremely fast,
faster than plain Fortunei-this one seems to be the ladder and if it hadn't
spear pulled the last 3 years it would probably put out 15 leaves per year...
not as fast as Bill's monsters but very good for a small plant.
The yellower slower ones seem to be more cold tolerant too,IME.

Amazing Images!!
I have a seedling Ensete. Its out today for the first time, its sunny to cloudy here but I will bring it in later. I only have had it a week, already Impatient, I might get a new leaf this weekend as the temps are supposed to to 29C
Its hard to Imagine mine growing to the sizes I have seen.
I like the long cacti.
Its all really good your backyard.
