That's why everyone down South uses it Jim. One can was not even enough for me to do all my palms one time so I'll need more containers of it next year, at least 3 for me I think.

Is that the 4lb can your talking about?
If so how much does the 4lb can make(gallons)
It looks like you pay(e-bay)including shipping about $5 a pound with the 4lb can....$20.32
And about $2.22 a pound with the 50lb bag - $110.81x 50lbs I'm guessing the big bag is what I need/with the money
I save on protecting/heating(not needing too because they will get to big)next year,I should be able to afford that 😯

Yeah Jim and everyone interested,
It doesn't go as far as you would think here's some examples for usage. The 4 pounds is 1.81 kg so you can convert to cups.

In ground palms:

2 to 3 feet - low application 1/2 cup medium 1 cup high 2 cups

4 to 6 feet - low application 1 cup medium 2 cups high 3 cups

7 to 10+ low application 2 cups medium 3 cups high 4 cups

Potted palms are much less. Hope this helped.

Hi Scotty,

I think it even cost me like $28. My palms have loved it...right ratio for palms and the all important added micronutrients (well, two: mag. & mang.).

I had every intention of buying Carl Pool off eBay, then continued surfing and ended up ordering this (thinking it was somehow in Ontario). Ended up being White Plains New York...hasn't arrived yet.
What do you guys think?

Hi Barb,

Looks to be same specs as Carl Pool, 12-4-12 with the all important micronutrients, especially magnesium and manganese. Should be great! Good luck!

Thanks Duncan that's reassuring.

What do you think of the humic acid in it?
it's supposed to be beneficial to organisms in the soil.

But few organisms in an indoor pot. 😆
Except my fungus gnats.

It'll be interesting to see how long the shipment from NY takes...they laughed (kindly) when I said where it was going.

Glad to hear your getting a real palm fertilizer Barb! Trust me you will not be disappointed! I would have ordered a 50 lb bag if I were you. It would have cost you the same I'm sure.

Geez, I should just move to the east coast, where all the shipments originate 😆 😆

I forgot to mention my fertilizer is liquid, not granular.

With our temperatures crashing tomorrow, it'll arrive as a block of ice with a handle 😆

Seriously though, I'm glad to finally get a REAL palm fertilizer.
Have been farting around mixing stuff for years, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks!

Is the liquid fertilizer the same ingredients as the granule? I bet it works faster, I might have to look into this one.

Bill,
That "growthproducts" link is for the liquid fertilizer.
I don't think they have that in granular form (or the lady at the order desk would have asked, I think).
The NPK +micros was for the liquid.

They emailed that it should be here by end next week.
High time, since some of the bigger palms are getting a few spots.

Since my palms are indoors and warm and getting regular watering, I'll do very light fertilizer next week rather than waiting until March. Didn't fertilize much this summer.

I bought a 50lb bag of Carl Pool for $35 but the shipping was the same! 4lbs is no where near enough if you have a good number of palms.

Where did you find it for 35?
