Beautiful. Incredible it's only a short distance from Toronto, still such a difference. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone.

As for the minor and the needle palm I don't really protect them. I spray them with wilt-pruf and cover them with leaves. That's it. The windmill sits in a plywood box with a few Christmas lights from December-February. Same for the fan palms.

The micro-climate here makes a huge difference. Especially in the winter. Most of the time we are a few degrees warmer then Toronto in the winter but I've seen almost 10 degree differences between us and the GTA in January which is amazing since I can see Toronto looking across the lake.

Simply unbeliveable that Minors overwinter without defoliation there, unprotected 😮 which climate zone is it then? We dont have wilt proof here but it maybe does miracles..

Total eye candy, Ryan.

So impressive what grows in the Niagara area...
Tough to believe it's in Canada, really.

Well done.

Is this microclimate in all Niagara-on-the-Lake or just restricted to your area. If it's just an area, were would that be? (planning my retirement 🙂 )

Tavi, much of Niagara-on-the-lake, St Catharines, all of Jordan and Vineland and some of Beamsville are 7a:

Last winter, our low was -13c here in Beamsville, at our house in south facing microclimate it was -11c only one day and -9c three days, not in a row
