Well it was a bad winter and a cool spring in Niagara but things are finally starting to move. Sorry for the poor quality iphone pictures.

What does a strawberry tree look like after it went through a bad great lakes winter with no protection? Not too bad. You can see some of the damaged leaves under the new growth.

Some rhodo blooms from a few weeks ago.

Some plumeria blooms:

DD Blanchard no damage

about to bloom

Little Gem Mag is surprisingly hardy and did well with only a little bit of damage to a few leaves.

Little gem bloom

See the damage underneath

Edith Bogue growing like a weed

Musa Basjoo starting to grow

One of many Japanese Aucuba. Never gets damaged in our climate

Windmill Palm protected with a wooden box

small trunk

viburnum davidii

Small needle Palm. Only a tarp for protection but is a slow grower

Ugly sabal minor. Tarp for protection

Hebe very happy

One of several types of bamboo that was donated by Jim Niagara

Ensete

European fan palm with small waggy seedling from Joe SSI

Canary Island Date Palm

Some Colocasia

Another Ensete just coming around from winter hibernation

Ensete with Chinese fan palms

Potted bismarckia

I have a few blood banana suckers chopped off the big plant and scattered around the property

Not tropical but I love hostas

I have about 20 Castors around the property. The cold spring has really delayed their growth. The one to the left is from a seed that survived the winter and popped up this spring.

A couple extra shots

Thanks for looking

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Thanks Jim. The weather here usually hot and humid during the summer. This year it has been slow to warm up.

Looks good buddy! You seem to have expanded!

I was slowly expanding my gardens but we decided to sell the house so I need to wait for the new place before I can add to my tropical collections.

beautiful garden. This year I wintered my plumerias in the garage for the first time and the result was disastrous; I lost them all. I'm looking for plumeria cuttings.
