Judging by the limited amount of black block strands,I would guess it was around 24F in the enclosure...at least when it was opened.

Appears the unheated Cycad is ok too.

T.Martianus looks good however,the remote temp sensor was laying on top of a C-7 bulb...possible it was more than a little off....but I think
20ish may have been as cold as these plants saw.

Glad to see them looking fine.
As for LED lights, no, not a fan for this purpose. Personally, I have more confidence in the heat tape. Then, incandescent C9 w/ thermocube.
I would REALLY like to see that Washy come through this winter well!

one more thing...30 palms,just no way to use that much heat tape.
Difference between spending $1000 to heat or $50.

What's all that white stuff on the ground?
I found a ton of the older incandescent mini-lights for 2 bucks a pop at the xmas store in Watertown NY. Needless to say I bought them out!

I can't risk LED use for palms here in Canada, but glad it appears to be working for you.
Wiki says: "LED rope lights require far less energy than incandescent rope lights and generate comparatively less heat. LED bulbs use about 1 watt per foot in power while a traditional rope light uses close to 3 watts of light per." From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LED_rope_light
By comparatively, I think they mean the ratio of wattage between the two types is related proportionately to the drop in heat output (incandescent = metal filament).
And: "Because LEDs emit less heat than incandescent bulbs, they are an energy-efficient technology for uses such as in freezers and refrigerators. As supplies disappear, we could always ask our American friends to mail us some incandescent lights 😉
Since THEIR government still lets people decide on their own what kinds of lights to use. 😉
Yeah, water line heat tapes are really expensive.
I think my 30-footer cost $48...expensive considering I'm not using it at all. 😆

Don't have the resources or watts to cover those Agave,they are dug up each year=inside the house now.

Thanks...its cool too have the stuff inside,having your south living room
window framed by a 6' Madagascar palm on one side and a near 7' Cereus cactus
is really nice to come out to on a sunny morning,a little inside and outside group!
