I mentioned before I had several Christmas palm seeds planted and incubating. I have then sitting on a nice warm heat source. Has anyone seen the little "greenhouses" they sell at wal-mart or Canadian Tire? The mini ones with the ready to plant soil pucks, anyway, they are in one of those.
My question is, how long should it take for them to sprout? I have been waiting for 4 weeks now and nothing. I have one seed I pop out to see if it has a root yet but nothing, anyone have any experience with these?

I've had fresh seed germinate while soaking overnight after cleaning.
processed ( cleaned & dried ) seem to take about 8 weeks.

So it will be a while yet? It's been about 4 weeks, maybe 3. I don't have them burried all the way, you can see the tops of them. I heard as long as they didn't dry out this was ok?
Any advice?

Does anyone know a good source to find some bigger (but still shippable) cuban, christmas, or royal palms? I want them for indoor palms in winter and outdoor in summer.
I looked on ebay but just wanted some input from you all first.

Last year The Home Depot was carrying those palms an they stood about 6' - 7' tall.

Your setup sounds OK, I germinate most of mine in sealed containers and then pot them up when the radicle is 1/2 - 1"

I tried in November to grow some. I had no idea what I was doing. I just planted them in a pot and left it in the sun. In Jan nothing had happened so I pulled them out. I few had a root that had begun to grow but then died. So I hope this time will work with all the improvements and stuff I have learned.

Lots of perlite in the mix will help with moisture issues.
It's tough to get things going in the Winter months, lost more being too damp than anything else.
I'm still learning too......... 🙂

LOL,
I find it so much easier to buy then then try and grow them from seed. I have next to no patience. I am still trying to find somewhere I can buy some 2 or 3 footers.
