Dear PalmsHolics!
I'm very proud to present pictures of Chaemerops Vulcan purchased last week.

Igor,
wow! That is a big one!
You'll keep it inside and plant it in spring, right? And give it protection next winter?
I like Chamaerops, but they need protection here.
I have never seen the "Volcano" for sale locally so I only know them through photos like yours.
Let us know how it does.

Thank you Erik! This guy is so nice and robust! There was the only one Vulcano in a garden center were I bought it. I have been thinking to buy or not to buy for a while 'cos it is toooo much expensive! 200 $! :protest:

Ooooooh, what a beauty!
I like the dense/compact growth, lots of off-shoots already
Frost on fronds always looks so pretty.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Dude, those are nice palms. ITs sort of like the waggie to chamerops, should be easier to protect

I know that $200 is a lot, but I think that palm is worth it. Now, please protect it well.
And keep us updated on it. --Erik

Barb
Barb, it's not frost on fonds 🙂 it's a kind of natural scurf...
Cameron, thanks for your kind offer. Of course I'd like to try cerifera seeds but unlikely the seed's parcel would be allowed crossing the Borat country border.
Aaron, you are right it looks like more compact form of Ch.humilis that supposed to be hardier. The only problem is that this particular variety grows on the small island not so far from Sicily. Unlikely if it's ever seen the snow.
Erik, I will provide the best growing conditions for this palm for sure.

Wow!!! That is a beauty, I wish we could get them that big over here 😯 I'd pay 200 bucks for one 😆 There pretty close to trachies hardiness right, 5f or so?
Great find!
Bill
That's a beauty Igor....congrats on finding one so nice 😀
I have some 1 year old seedlings of these from Max Cola in Italy
also a few Volcano x Cerifera- an F1 hybrid that should be quite beautiful
when it grows up and quite hardy!

Thank you, guys!
Bill, I think those palms are grown by the Dutch companies in Thailand, China and Malaysia. That is why they look so healthy. And you are right this particular variety is still rare in cultivation.
Jim, I'd like to see this F1 hybrid. Have you ever seen it?

It may be some of the first seeds from it although it wouldn't be surprising
to find out they have been out there a while in Europe or the west coast here 😀
I will see if Max knows of any pics of this one, here is what he wrote me about it-
3.C.X.volcano(20)****** This is a Vulcano mutation that keeps the leaves undivided ( like sabal lisa) .
the mother palm, this year was pollinated with a male cerifera, the result should be excellent F1 hybrid!
