Took a bunch of pictures this evening. Everything is in its prime and it looks like September could keep some nice weather around for awhile -- so I might get even more growth -- which is outstanding! Hoping for a warm fall that gently leads into a mild winter.

The trachy lineup.

Little waggie.

Looking toward the street. Couple of ensete maurelii, thai black and cannas.

Cactus bed covered with leaves from the darn maple!!

Yucca filamentosa 'color guard' and magnolia '24 below'.

BANANAS!

Amorphophallus konjac is doing well -- in with the bananas.

Ficus 'sylvie' has tripled in size this summer.

Christmas palm pushed 3 fronds this summer.

Here is your favorite view as you approach from the street!

EE and cannas.

Lemon tree I just purchased.

New greenhouse in progress! It's 18' x 8' and 10' high at the peak. Concrete block room in the back will house my barrel wood stove.

Thanks for looking!

How are you planning on using that wood stove area? Are you planning to heat full time?

Very lush, Tim.

Since your Christmas Palm is right beside your cactus bed, they don't need much water to do well?
My seedling Christmas palms are sooooo slow.

wheelman,

I plan on running the stove fulltime - yes.

Barb,

I actually water the cactus bed as much as the tropicals -- sprinklers don't discriminate! The cactus don't seem to mind at all and are growing quite rapidly. I've had this Christmas palm since a seedling in 2009 and yes they seem slow.

Scott,

Greenhouse is PVC pipe. I'll be framing the endwalls with wood and putting a beam and posts down the middle.

We used some 8-inch microjet risers that were 180 degrees.
The 180 head could be turned away from plants that didn't need much.
So I thought you might be doing something similar.

Thanks.
Barb

Hey Jim, everything is fine. I recorded 32.9 last week one morning, heavy frost on rooftops, but no damage to my plants. I didn't think it would get that cold, that early and I got real lucky! I had left everything outside: crotons, Christmas palm, etc.

I think the warm ground saved me this go around.
