Don't know where that is at but at rice road ghs they overwintered in their greenhouses a couple of customers' 20-odd foot tall Washingtonia robustas,.
They were too tall and had to be diagonally kept in the gh. You see the tops:

Hi guys, i posted these pics on my website. I found that 2 years ago on another website, i dont remember what the address. But i think it was on a forum website talking about palms tree. They said that these pics was taken in Ontario,Canada. Maybe southern then Toronto, like Niagara or Windsor. That guy is crazy ,but if you take a look of the pics, its looking like a botanics garden or something like that.

If indeed this is in Ontario, I really need to find out where it is. A Palm enthusiasts Mecca for sure. I am combing the net for info on this location. 😀

My thoughts are that these palms are, in fact, located in St. Louis Missouri. I have a suspicion that I've seen them posted before. I will pass this link along to friends at the NE board who may be able to tell for sure.

The one I recall seeing in St.Louis was a single near a pool that was hacked back every year.....

Two weeks later and answer: Those washy pictures at the bottom of the page are from Missouri. The pictures are at least 22 years old and I have no idea if the palms are still there. Still very impressive since they would be growing in USDA zone 6 or 7!

"Yes Paul, those are my photos of Tom Kelly's tall Washies in Missouri. He sent me a stack of pics of his garden back in the late 1980's. I have those pics in my photo album plus many more of all sorts of palms he grows in St.Louis"

Barb, No clue. One would think that, at some point, the palms would have to be set free and probably succumb in their first winter... I doubt that they still exist, but if they do, I'd say they would be twice the height they are in the pics.

Quite the behemoth structure.
Hope it's been multi-purposed for more tropical stuff since then.

Can't imagine ever having to construct something like that.
Agree with Jim...hope my Trachy never gets that large.
