I knew these guys had buds again but they sure will surprise you if your not aware that they have opened.

This is the 3rd separate time these have bloomed.

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Never seen the Rose Mallow blooming in June before!

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Why do Poppies(packages) always say-blooms the second year???

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

New mulch sure pretty's things up!

I used Cedar arpund the palms-some of the smaller ones
still battle with WSM and this dry weather is no help-
maybe white spider mites don't like Cedar like most bugs???

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

7' bloomstalk on the Hesperaloe this year!

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Some small banana plants

Mekong "giant"

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Beautiful Rajapuri from Bill in Mass-
these really grow fast when happy but don't get to big...beautiful color on leaves and stem-almost blue.

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Ensete Glaucum

These do not appear to like heat as their leaves always curl-this one was a one inch stump
all winter that I cut because it was dying back-nice recovery this year!

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

E.Ventricosum

I think this is the fastest Ensete-at least in my experience.

Here it is on 5-5-12

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And 6-28-12...it's only July..was going to say June(-: he's a little crammed but we'll cut him out a spot!

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

No Mickey mouse ears yet on this Alocasia Mickey mouse(Xanthosoma)

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Siam

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Philodendron "Hype" o.k. it's really "Hope" and a Corpse lily I am trying in a sunnier location.

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Beautiful Nainital,among friends.

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Speaking of Corpse lilies-these are taking the sting out of possibly losing
most the T.ferns(the Cooperi may wait until next year to die,or come back),they are such interesting plants.

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Last one-this pic is almost a month old-
Madagascar "palm" has a 30" + crown!

Thanks Tim....and you did,it's over by the Washys.

It is way to hot and sunny there for it so,some of it
was moved to the east side but thats why the Rajapuri was planted there,to shade it.

do you like the dino food plant? It always looks good in photos but I don't see it planted around here for some reason. 😕

Great pics Jim. How long have your oldest trachys been in the ground now for? And how big were they when planted? I thought yours were in the ground longer than mine and I can't figure out why mine are rocketing toward the sky so fast.

You experiencing the drought down there too? I have to water almost daily!

How big do you expect your mekong giant to get by the end of the season? I'm curious as ours seem about the same size.

I do like them Tim,I think they need a cool shady spot though...
they don't seem to like being over by the Washys!

The Mekong giant was so small to start-they are supposed to be like a Basjoo on steroids...

we'll see,I would hope at least 8' 😀

Tim

Lets compare Trachys heres mine April 15,2010-do you have a picture of yours from then?

Total eye candy, Jim.

Everything looks so darn HEALTHY...

Like the new mulch too.
Let us know if it repels WSM.

Who'd have thought cactus could bloom 3x a year (so far) 😀

Hey Mike

Your Banana plants have to have fruited and sent up pups by now
as recall they were 6'+ in May or something like that!

I have about 6 of the Pachys that grow the palm like trunks....
I thought there was only Lamaeri and Geayi but i found a couple others
that have fatter trunks but look just like Lamaeri or Geayi.....

That must have been a cool trip!

I have always wanted to go to Madagascar!

I dig up the Americana and the variegated Americana, the Havardiana,Parryi and
Neomexicana are all rock solid(under the protection(-;)-there is even a A.Americana
pup that shot up off a dead parent plant that has managed to survive single digits but
they usually kark it to much under 15-20F.

Tim

I think my Fortunei would be somewehere around the size of yours if not for the trunk cutting,
it looked amazing the fall before!

Heres what it looked like before the saw payed a visit in November

I will get a picture of it now sometime soon.
