Evergreens and palms look good together.

They must be jealous. 😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

That picture proves how well they look together!!! Here is the advice quoted verbatim: "I think that creating a "tropical" lanscape should be approached with caution. I see evergreens in the background, and in my opinion they don't visually mix well with tropicals. Don't go all out tropical. keep it understated and classy. it would match your house MUCH better than a flambouant show of palms and hibiscus."

Here are pics of my new palms waiting to be planted in the discussed area. Needle palms on the ends, European fan palm in the middle, and Sabal Minors on each side of the European Palm. Thanks for the help.

Looks good, but European fan palm will sucker like crazy and if you don't keep up with it it will branch out in front of the windows over time. Needls sucker but don't really trunk and much slower growing.

European fan palm.

That's going to look really nice! Very easy to take care of in the winter too. Good luck digging out all that crap clay. I'll trade you my nice dark soil for your winters. That sounds fair what do you think 😀

Don't forget to invite the whole neighborhood over for a palm planting party. You can put up a big sign at the end of your driveway, that should make your palm buddy happy!

Ooooh, great graphic Todd!

I love the idea of palms at each end of your house. But so your windows don't get covered, cannas would look stunning under the windows. And would you consider some form of trunking yucca against the brick? As the yuccas grow, their bluish colour would be highlighted against the brick.

BTW I got my 6 gorgeous baby Yucca Rostrata Sapphire Skies from a nursery in N. or S. Carolina called Plant Delights.
They have great nursery stock.

I think a nice threesome of some palm (CIDP?) would look super AWAY from the house too, towards the roadfront.
Would balance the palms at the house with something a little further away.

Get the beer. We'll help you.
