Eh Jim!!

Everything looks good! Especially those needle palms! Im still amazed that the tetrapanax manages to volunteer. My seed never germinated, so none for me 🙁

How is that Phyllostachys Nigra doing?

To bad we can't do mail swaps from U.S. to Canada, they have been coming up like weeds!

What's stopping ya? Ship 'em bareroot wrapped in moist paper towels, then newspaper. We have mailed back and forth numerous times. Just not banned plants.

Fantastic shots as usual, Jim! Your trunk cut fortunei is a prime example of just how vigorous some hardy palms can be!

As far as the Tetrapanax go, I would consider myself lucky to even have a specimen, let alone "volunteer" plants popping up everywhere! 😆

Did you grow your Brahea from seed? If so did you treat them differently from your other palms? I can get them to germinate but have problems getting them through the seedling stage (have tried everything!).

I bought it from Steve in Alabama last spring- NorthofFlorida palms on e-bay.

Post office told me "no, you cannot ship live plants to the US without a phytosanitary certificate".
Contents have to be declared (truthfully...but I suppose we could lie through our teeth and declare contents are a "pamphlet" or something.
Same with orders coming from U.S. nurseries, they won't do it, unless you sign that there's no responsibility to the nursery if the plants are confiscated at the border.

As though palm seedlings would affect Canada's vast and lucrative palm plantations :fart:

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

GREAT! Thanks, Jim!I believe it was a quite hard season to keep your plants watered properly. Of course they had to reward you for the endless watering...

I only watered them enough to keep them alive. 😆

Jim great pics of your yard. Everything is growing great. What size was that Butia eriospatha when planted?

Thanks Tim

I am going to try and give it a little more shelter this year,if I don't get to lazy...

John

I think it was bigger! 😆

The leaves were more stretched out from nursery greenhouse growth.

It has taken a few years to get established, speeded up a little this year.

Picture is from 12-23-08.
I guess the trunk has gotten bigger....

😆

Yes, do protect that sequiodendron a little longer.

I'll follow that Butia eriospatha in your garden. That's one I'd like to get someday.

It has proven very tough as it has had all kinds of stupid stuff
thrown over it and managed to just stay warm enough the first few years.
I am taking better care of it now 🙂
