2013 Front Garden

My front yard garden is 95% finished. All I'm waiting for is my elephant ear bulbs to finish sprouting in the greenhouse and then they will be planted along side the ensete maurelii to fill in the gap! So without further adieu, here are some pictures!

My two trachies. Applied epsom salt last weekend and Carl Pool fertilizer tonight.

This bed should be amazing once I get some growth. Ton of bananas, along with some other gems. The maple tree used to be in the center of the yard, but I whacked it down last fall and joined two smaller beds to create this bed.

Papayas are part of the big bed! 🙂 Germinated these from seed in March. Species? No clue. Got the seeds from a store bought papaya. Let's see how fast these grow this summer!

Amorphophallus konjac also resides in the big bed. Coming back nicely from its winter dormancy. The pot was root bound, yet this is all the growth so far.

Crotons form a ring around my new Edith Bogue. Three are new, two are from last year which I dug up and stored in the greenhouse over winter. These don't seem to mind being dug up every fall and replanted in the spring.

Will this is for you. A castor bean jungle is about to commence. Great height on these already for early May!

Alocasia Borneo Giant. Let's see how they perform.

Ficus Sylvie. Also from last year and was dug up and stored in greenhouse. Replanted for another season of fun.

View from the sidewalk. EE's will go around the ensete maurelii in a few weeks. Small canna patch on the left.

Basjoo and tall orinoco beginning their summer journey.

With developing oranges.

Meyer lemon tree with larger lemons and small ones.

Magnolia grandiflora '24 below' made it through the winter.

Healthy buds.

Can't wait to see how everything does, but I don't wanna rush the warm season either!

That 24 below... thats the one that replaced the EB last year, and the big EB is the one that was special ordered correct?

Gorgeous! Any pics of your garage where all these bananas have been overwintering?
I do envy about the bark mulch you put on your backyard. In my country it costs enormous money (25 USD per a small bag) so I can't afford it.

I had some seeds for a dwarf papaya the guy I got them from said they fruit in a year he had some mature trees there they were only about 6 ft tall with large papaya. that yard looks amazeing..and not much left to mow either 😆 your greenhouse looks like it gave everything a really good head start. most of my stuff is just comming around and it has been in the 80s here for awhile. cant wait to see it mid summer.
igor...25 bucks for a bag of mulch does your country have no spare trees 😯

Yes, that big mag is the new one that the garden center ordered in for me.

Ugh, now there is frost in the forecast Saturday and Sunday night. Not only do I need to protect stuff in my garden, I planted a HUGE tropical garden at work that I need to protect.

I'm insane.
