As I'm sure some here know I have a pretty big patch of dwarf braz and red dwarfs that I plan on digging up and dry root storing for the winter. I would like to avoid frost and any damage it can bring so I'm curious what opinions are out there for when to dig 'em and get them in for storage. I'm hoping the warmer garage where they'll be kept wont' be too warm until the cooler temps hit. Any further advice?

They may get foliar damage around 6 celcius or 42 farenheit, so if overnight lows are forecast for that or colder, dig em up the day before.

My 2 cents

If your just storing them over winter(like bulbs)why worry about the foliage?

Leave them out and enjoy them into November 😀

Dig up if anything under 25F is forecast as this can begin to kill the p-stem.

I want to keep as much of the p-stem as possible. Lows tonight is showing 41 degrees. I want to cut off all but the cigar leaf when I dig them up and want to make sure that leaf isn't damaged too much. Or can I expect that over winter to wither anyways?

The digging has begun.... I need to stay on top of things as I'm starting to finish my shed and get it ready for tyvek and siding.
