My wife asked me to go shopping with her to get artificial flowers etc. at Salisbury Greenhouse in Sherwood Park. Normally you wouldn't get me within 100' of any store that she would browse through. BUT.

Salisbury has the most cacti and tropicals in the area. 😈

So I accompanied her for some unknown reason. My Grandnephew came along for the ride. He is about 2 steps from becoming a gardening nut. 😉

I didn't see any artificial plants but I found 4 Musa Basjoos and about 20 Dwarf Cavendish Bananas.

My wife spent $65 and I only spent $10. 😯

But I got a Musa Basjoo.

😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Nice score Allen! Any plans for it this coming spring?

Cheers, Barrie.

No. I saw it and had to have it. 😳

I am proud of myself for leaving the other 3 in the nursery. 😉

So far I have mentally planted it in 2 spots but both either expose it to too much wind or it would create shade for sun loving plants that are already in place. Maybe the east side of the house or the west side of the garage. Or maybe where the delphiniums are in the lee of the Spruce tree. So far my wife has not complained about the possible 4th shelter.

I'll find a place for it outside. I just have to repeat " I do not need 2, 1 will do" over and over until I believe it. 😐

Well Allen, if you manage to grow this Musa on in size it will grow many more offsets making a nice grove of bananas. 😀

Cheers, Barrie.

Good find, Allen.
My vote is West side of garage! If it's windy there you could do a 4x8 decorative screen (which will be one wall of winter protection for 2008/9). 😉

Thanks Barb. Are you coming out here in the spring to help me break up the sidewalk to make room for it? 😈

I could use a little help with the sledge hammer. 🙂 🙂

I do have a couple of trellises that I pulled out to make way for the palm shelter. Why not.

Edmonton has Spring? 😉

You're ACL isn't going to like working on that sidewalk!

The other spot...where it creates shade shade for sun-loving plants might be the best spot!
But thanks for the invite. 😀

Yup.

It's July 3rd.

Right between the last winter frost, July 2nd, and the first fall frost, July 8th. 😛
