❓ Is anyone familiar with Trachcarpus Takil and Nannorhops Ritchiana?

Trachycarpus Takil, common name Kumoan (sp.) Palm--native to the Himilayas, taller than T. Fortunei, and rumored as hardy or hardier than T. Fortunei

Nannorhops Ritchiana, common name Mazari palm--native to Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, reported to be #2 hardiest (#1 R. Hystrix). Two varieties:

Green-hardiest of the two
Silver-more common, unique color, but reported not as hardy

Also, is there any validity to the T. Fortunei variety "Bulgaria" and S. Minor variety "McCurtain County" being hardier than other varieties?

There seems to be a little doubt, especially with the "Bulgaria" being any more hardy. Is this just marketing? There is one nursery website I know that charges a good premium of the "Bulgaria" over the T. Fortunei.

Thanks.

Howdee!
I am just happy to see someone put up new posts 😀

I have tried Takil, and found it handles cold a little better, and my Nannorhops R., and Bulgaria did not like my transplant jobs or something? They never made it through the summer 😥 , but I can tell you that McCurtain county sable is hardier than most other sables!

Hey, do you have a photo link page? I would love to see any pics you have of your gardens or plants 🙂

I don't right now. I do have a digital camera, but I dont have a personal web page, so I don't know how I would have a link--I'm not entirely up to date internet wise. Holpefully I can put some on the "winter protection" forum in the next couple of weeks.

That would be cool!

One easy way to post pics is to find a photo page like webshots or another photo sight. They are free to down load. Then all you do is copy and past your link on your profile page, and then everyone can see your pics you want to share. Sorry If you already know this, but it might help someone else out there?
If you find out how to post pics directly on here, please show me how? I have never had good computer skills.

Hello,

You can also use photobucket.com which is free. Once you have your picture url you select the box then paste or type your image url and then select the box again.

Hope this helps. 😀

Jay

Hi Aaron,

An image url is the path to where the picture is stored. For example http://www.palmsnorth.com is the url for this forum. So if i had stored an image in a folder called pics and the picture is named trachy.jpg the image url would be

This is an example of a url you would place between the [img]

I hope i am not confusing you. I know with photobucket after you upload your pictures on their site they have the url's (link) set up for your pictures so that you can just copy and paste them.

I don't know if webshots let you do this?

Regards,
Jay
