Hello All,
I am looking for help please with germinating Fatsia Japonica seeds. I bought them online from Hirt's Gardens.
They come with basic directions, but I am sure you all have much more knowledge and many tips to offer. All advice is much appreciated.
Thanks...
michael

I tried these before with no luck (actually I think i dropped the container they were in lol). Im pretty sure they need to be surface sown, or at least covered lightly. They were pretty small seeds. The one thing ive wondered is if they need to be stratified. Most plants ive grown from seed that come from cold/colder areas tend to need some stratification.
I do remember looking online and finding almost nothing in regards to good germination info.... I hope you have better luck then I did mike!

Hi Mike, did you read this one: http://www.ehow.com/how_12063333_grow-fatsia-seed.html or this one: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/tropesque/msg0322102032243.html
Barb, I've never tried growing fatsia from the seeds, sorry for that...

Mine germinated just fine. Fresh seeds. About 25% germ. However, can't remember doing anything special... No stratification.
