Just noticed the first bulbs of spring! Snowdrops are up everywhere and crocus are appearing in excellent microclimates. This is in addition to the Pieris, Erica and Hellebores that continue to bloom!
What do you think, early normal spring or will it be a prolonged cool spring?
They were commin up in the niagra region 2 weeks ago! There is a small drop in temps for you down there, I hope they can take the temps that are comming!

-10C on sunday. Dont feel bad, -25C tonight with -35C windchills tonight here. Thatll set back the tree buds!
You guys are probably going to have an early spring. Even if its cool, the "spring" season has pretty much started down there. IF you think of the pattern thats been happening, its been a few days to a few weeks at above normal, or just above normal, with 2 oe 3 days at normal or below, then back up to above. ITs a bit more typical pattern for up here, it just usually isnt as warm. I think this spring has seasonal forcasters going nuts. ID hate to have to work the math to do this years spring predictions!!

Ya. I saw Tony had posted daffs in bud down in Niagara. That's almost unheard of (or it might be completely unheard of). My place in K-town is supposed to drop to near 0f (-17C) this weekend. It's already seen ~ -22C (not bad really for a 4b/5a) and most of the bamboo leaves are freeze-dried already. It really sucks for protection when you depend on snow and there is none! Oh, but the Fargesia spatheca (formerly nitida) seedlings under their blanket are 100% fine!
Congrats southern Ontario!
I've (for years) looked daily at the satellite image in the Pacific (never really know what it means until it arrives 😆 😆 )
But over the years, I've learned what things generally look like/create as systems head onshore with the westerly wind.
Strange stuff out there this year...week after week, it just looks different than it used to years ago.
How's that for a rank amateur's prognostication?
Don't answer that... 😆 😆
Here's today's, looks a little more normal than the entire last month.

Really hard to predict lately it seems.
How about a cool summer instead of a ruined spring??
I have seen one prediction that had a mild winter forecast-
they also have a cool summer predicted....however,
they also predicted Texas and Oklahoma would be cool
and wet last summer.

😆
I'm heading to the Oregon coast for the summer. Can't take another "cool and wet" summer like 2011!
-14 C is forecasted here for Sunday. Although NS has not had the extreme low winter temps, my area has had an unbelievable amount of quite cold (-10 C or below) temps this season.
