Here is my Fargesia sp. "Rufa". It survived with 0 damage! The dead culms are from the slight top kill last year. I lightly draped the tarp back over it so it can acclimate a bit faster. Ill take some pics of my Phyllostachys Areosulcata in a few hours...

the bamboo looks good. I bet it will get much larger this season....good job!

I hope so. I set it back last year, especially my Phyllostachys. Ill be posting some pics of that soon. Its pretty sunny and quite the temp swing (I have the headache to prove it), so theyll be tarped off and on during the day to acclimate it a bit.
It looks as good as your palms do this year!

Lowest this year was -28C at the airport. So roughly -25C at my house. IT was bent to the ground, buried in leaves, tarped, and it had 2 feet of snow. More then enough insulation!

The Phyllostachys got half unburied before I left for groceries. After some lunch im gonna go back there and give it another go. The snow is way deeper then the rest of my yard, thanks to a neighbor who plowed an extra 3 feet of snow there 👿

Here ya go guys. Came through with no problems. Again, the tarp is lightly draped over it to make sure the sun. warm temps and wind dont kill it. Im more then happy so far!

Great work, Canadianplant! All of my bamboo (including F. murielae) have a bit of damage, but this was to be expected, as I planted them out in August. Both of my P. japonica actually look a lot better than I thought they would!

My bamboo planted this May.
F. rufa is undisputed leader in growth. The other one has grown very little so far.

F. jiuzhaigou 1 now
We'll see if they survive the Winter...

These two don't require any root barrier, so I don't expect them to be invasive at all.
