I bought a "Yellow Groove" Bamboo a week ago. Pot planted it outside and since then, a lot of leaves are turning yellow and curling.
Anybody know why? I thought maybe it was due to being in a greenhouse, then brought out and planted in direct light????
That could be Kansas,
Direct light is very hard on plants until they get adapted to it 🙂 It is just like us sun burning.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I have three things for you DZ.
Number 1, I have not forgotten about the $15 I still owe you. I think about it, then it slips my mind again.
Number 2, The Sabal Minor you sold me, it had not grown since I bought it from you which I know it is a VERY slow grower so I didn't think of it. Then all of a sudden within the last 3 to 4 weeks, it has BURSTED with growth. I imagine the slow part at the begining was due to it trying to get it's roots going instead of above ground growth. Whatever it was, it sure is doing GREAT now!!!
Number 3. You also was kind enough to throw in a Rostrata. OK, this thing has been growing like weed since day one!!!! To tell the truth, I like it better than the Minor that I was buying from you. However, I liked the vivid blue color on it so much that I went to my nursery to buy another one. They grow there own in greenhouses. But when I got it home, it has no where NEAR the blue color that yours has. Any idea why? I mean theirs is almost pure green where yours is the most gorgous shade of blue.
I don't know why some sabal minors are blue and others aren't? The same thing happens to yuccas. Every now and then I find a few blue yuccas even though all the others from the same batch of seeds are green?
The money I am not concerned with, I know how easy it is to forget about it. Maybe we could do a trade later on instead of the $15?
The new growth on the sabal is normal. They put on a few new leaves then they don't do anything for a while, but if yours keeps a constant growth then that is very cool. 🙂

I noticed that my 2 new yuccas lost some of their green color after they had been outside in full sun for a month or so. They used to have a noticeable green stripe on the outside of the leaves. Now you have to look to see the green color.
Is the soil aroound the existing yucca acidic? I don't know about yuccas, but acidic soil 'blues' spruces, hydrangeas and other plants.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Most yuccas in the deserts grow in a alkali tpye soil, and not an acidic soil. Some yuccas like elata don't grow at all in acidic soil, well not for me?
There is a few that seem not to care what kind of soil they are in. I think it may be hit or miss 😐

My yucca elata is growing in a mixture of sand, top soil and peat moss. It will be very acidic soil which is coomon to our area. We will have to see if it grows or not. So far so good it appears to be growing.
