I planted 3 Yucca rigidas in the summer of 2004 and they did very well until half way through the follwing winter. By the time late spring was here all three pulled right from the ground. I later dug some of the roots up to see what they look like but they did not look good. 🙁
I knew this was not a very hardy yucca but thought it would be fun to try and grow them. Well to make a long story short, late last fall I noticed a couple of very small leaves pushing up from the ground. To my surprise that very small plant made it thriugh the winter 😀 I hope this one will be the one that makes it through the cold winters. 😛

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

How did that one end up doing? I killed my beauty rigida two winters ago and my cat ate nearly all of its offset I have still potted. Any tips?

I tried a 5 gallon Y. rigida I picked up in Tucson. I covered it with an open sided greenhouse to keep moisture off of it and it still died in my zone 6b climate. I was not impressed.

No luck here either. All the ridgida I've tried (not to mention rostrata, thompsoniana, etc.) have died in their first winter here.

Plant the cat.
