Yucca Elata

What is the likely hood of long term success here in the PNW. I know it is very cold hardy but I am worried about our wet winters. Do I need to provide overhead protection?
I see it also trunks but if it flowers will it not form a trunk?
Any info would be very helpful. I am planning on planting it next weekend.

Hi Wes,

It shoudn't be a problem growing it where you are. I was told there's one in Richmond that has been there for years. They still grow a trunk when they flower. You can see the flower stems on these elatas in the picture. Where did you pick yours up at?

Regards,
Jay

Jay,
Thanks for the info. I got mine as a 5 gallon at Maple Leaf Nurseries in Lynn Valley, North Van. They have lots and are $39.99 each. I will post a pic tonight.

Thanks again.

Wow! A five gallon size for $40. Would love to see a pic. Do you know if Maple leaf has a website and if they ship plants? I would love to buy one. 😀

Regards,
Jay
