I thought I would share some photos of my newly planted cactus bed here in Z6 Massachusetts. Enjoy!

Early Spring construction phase with a newly planted Yucca Thompsoniana and my lanky trachy recovering from the winter.

Here it is mid June. Half the cactus was purchased at High Country Gardens and the other half is from a seller on ebay.

Closeup of some of the cactus. The spineless Opuntia made it through the winter in a different location with no protection. 7 new pads formed so far with more on the way. The clump of white cactus to the left in the foreground is a white form of Echinocereus Caespitosis from Oklahoma. The cactus in bloom is a Coryphantha Vivipara. The barely visible clump to the right of that is Escobaria leei. Moving towards the back is Echinocereus triglochidiatus 'White Sands Strain'. Another clump of Echinocereus Caespitosis is visible behind that, followed by some sort of hardy cholla. Not quite sure what the plant is under the Opuntia. It came in the box with the cholla and the seller never got back to me on what it was.

The small cactus just below the Thompsoniana is a Echinocereus Viridiflorus. There is 3 total in the cactus bed. Agave Parryi visible to the left of that.

Would giving the trunk of my Thompsoniana a hair cut lower it's hardiness in the winter or does it not matter? Hope you enjoyed!
