Been after one of these for a while. Some suppliers are selling them unrooted in Europe but thats not for me. I paid the extra dosh for a rooted specimen. Also treated myself to an Agave havardiana. My wife did not want to go on Vacation this year.Shame really 😆 
The Agave Havardiana is a reasonable size to.

Barb... no they aren't cheap. It came from Spain via Germany. It was the smallest of four for sale. I couldn't afford the bigger specimens
I have no idea how old it is. It is also on the edge of hardiness in my area so will have to be kept dry in Winter.

I've admired Dasylirion for ages.
Even considered an Australian Grass Tree as a good--yet unavailable--substitute.
Husband suggested I have an aspirin and wait for it to pass. 😆
Building a roof? or under your house eaves?

Barb... I forgot to mention I have Dasylirions in my Introduction. I also have a small trunked Dasylirion Miquihuanensis and non trunked Serratifolium, Wheeleri.
I lost a Serratifolium amoungst many other Mexican plants in that terrible December '10 freeze 🙄
Australian Grass trees or "Black Boys" as they are known as over here are much more rare and expensive over here.
I will build a roof similar to this one I built for my very small Butia Capitata this Winter gone. Very apt to as a large trunk of Albizzia Julibriissim fell over in Winter Gales.
Tim... Not many people growing these inland around my area. Around the London microclimate and Southeast England there are a few being grown successfully.
