Hey Aaron, that triple-header is A-1.
Beautiful size and condition.

The lowest rosette appears to have some light green growth, maybe from growing into the Fall.

It doesn't even look like it's seen any cold 😆
Completely unfazed by winter.
I'm impressed.

Thanks!
Barb

Your welcome.
I want to keep you inspired. 😀

I was thinking that samething about the fall growth. The had some colder than normal weather for over a week. Cold -1F or colder at night and day time temps in the single digits and teens.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Inspired?
I'm drooling over that Yucca.

Cold -1F or colder at night and day time temps in the single digits and teens.

I may go outside and rip the plastic cover off my 3 rostratas.
Harden 'em up a bit so they're not pansies.
Or posies, or whatever the term is. 😆

These plants look like there's no winter at all. How dry is that area in winter? It must be dry, since they look so good!

They recieve about 12-14inches a year.

The yellow on the new growth, I would say is some damage to late fall growth. But I think it will be fine.

It obviously doesn't mind car exhaust either.

Love the neat work on the leaf bases!

Barb,
have you ever grown any from seed?

In five years you can have a nice looking plant, and some test subjects. 🙂

My bad, yuccas planted outside in good locations and good soil can become a nice plant and may even start to form a small trunk, depending on the sp. 😆

Yuccas left in pots for long periods will almost always stop growing. Atleast the sp. I have grown. I don't know why. 😕

My yucca I started this winter is bigger than the one in the top pic. 😐

Many yuccas you buy from mail order may only be a year old when you recieve them. The yuccas you have outside are how old?

The y.rostrata (2 winters in the ground) were bought in 2008, same year I started the little guy from seed.

Yuccas left in pots for long periods will almost always stop growing.

Yeah, I've heard that too.

But I have another PDN rostrata that's planted in total gravel (yup!) in a tall garbage can and it's the same size as my outside yuccas.
Size of container is obviously a limiting factor.

A recent pic:

He's got to be planted this year...

started this winter is bigger than the one in the top pic

I knew it was ME! and not the soil or container or cold 😆

Size does make a difference, that is a nice looking yucca! So it is about 5/6 years old and looks good! Should not be much longer before the take off. Unless they are jinxed. 🙄 😆

That garbage can filled with gravel weighs about 100 pounds.

We'll see how long the root is when I plant it out.
(a) 2 inches, or
(b) 2 feet

😆

I have the same problem Aaron.............Yuccas in containers stop growing pretty fast..........they seem to love root tip growth. I try to get seedlings into the garden asap..........most seem to look mature after 3 seasons.
