Yeah Tim i guess after a little reading most of the city where I lived was swamps and marshland so I guess that why everything in that yard grew so fast.

Tim- I'd like some more filata f2 seeds if you have them... I now have access to a growth chamber which will make germinating seeds that much easier!
Hope the rostrata pollen arrives in time to make some hybrids!
seeds will be mailed soon! See PM.

Hey tim Call me again to talk about pollenating them both. Both stalks almost extended out and need to know how to time this.

Hello well just updating on the status of my yucca rostrata bloom and my attempt on cross pollination with a local filamentosa. my rostrata is about a few more days from maturing and I found a near by variegated filamentosa so i a havesting pollen from 2 different blooms and hand pollinating my rostrata wish me luck.

I have only one blooming Yucca at the moment, Y. filamentosa/flaccida, so nothing for crossing yet.

Hello today I removed donor pollen from freezer at work and after work im going to hand pollinate the rostrata. I decided that im gonna remove the whole anther pollen and all. I will put the anther on the end of a thick long needle and push the whole anther through each stigma. I harvested so many I hope this works.

Here's one for you Tim, I have a yucca elata blooming. 😉
I hope it don't kill it, the plant is not all that big. 😕

Marcio- I have to ask- did you dehydrate the pollen before you put it in the freezer?
Good luck Macario with the hybrid attempt! Keep us updated.
Paul, the rostrata pollen may have worked on the Y. flaccida 'Tennessee Mountain'? Both flowers seem to be swelling. Only time will tell. All the gloriosa attempts appear to have failed. I wonder if gloriosas need more heat? They didn't appear to have much pollen. Today we finally surpassed 80F so I'm interested to see if there is more pollen in the flowers tomorrow am??
Aaron, Y. elata blooming? And it's not that big? Boy..............what are you doing?? You gotta get a Y. elata x neomexicana and a Y. neomexicana x elata (if there is enough time). My 6' tall elata still has not bloomed. What da?
<a href="http://www.wunderground.com/US/MA/Seekonk.html?bannertypeclick=bigwx"><img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/bigwx_both_cond/language/www/US/MA/Seekonk.gif" alt="Click for Seekonk, Massachusetts Forecast" border="0" height="60" width="468" />
I may take some pollen off Y. neomexicana and put it in the cooler. 😉
I tried pollen from a Y. nana to a neomexicana. Will see?

Hi Aaron,
cool......Y. nana too! Any hybrid with nana would be great. Try to get nana to cross with an east coast Yucca since nana's won't grow here.....not sure why.....so east coast Yucca genes are needed!!
I noticed this morning that the Y. flaccida 'Tennesse Mountain' is forming 2 seed pods from the baccata pollen not Paul's rostrata pollen. So thanks for the baccata pollen.....I hope the pods fully ripen!!
