I spotted the first Yuccas to send up blooms:
Yucca flaccida 'Tennessee Mountain Form' seed grown from Rob of Tenn.
<img src= >
Yucca 'constricta x filamentosa' x 'filamentosa x elata'.....I crossed this in 2006 and germed inn 2007....pretty quick.

Damn. Too bad it did not continue growth from the main stem... Maybe an F2 will? Do you have any more seed?

That sucks. 😡 But maybe the new seed will produce something different. 😉 Still a very cool yucca. 😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
-Aaron-
I got tons of big mama seed if anyone wants some......I still haven't germed mine yet.
My Y. filata #5 is trunk forming. I sent most people this seed too. If anyone wants more let me know. I'll try to take a photo to show this filata. I also have Y. filata #3 which 'was' trunk forming after blooming but after the second bloom the mother died back........so not long term trunk forming. Hopefully #5 will be long term trunking! 8)

That big gorgeous Big Mama is dead????? 👿
Damn.
Could it be one that flowers, produces seeds, and then croaks?
Especially since you had such a mild winter...how sad, sorry Tim.

Nice shots, Tim. I especially like the tall recurvifolia/gloriosa! It's too bad to hear about the "Big Mama" dying, but at least there are pups left over!

yes, big mama (original mother plant) is dead and new suckers are growing now.......I guess the filamentosa genes rule in that hybrid. It would be nice to get a filata that is truely trunk forming! 8)

Yes, sorry for your loss.
Wow, how'd you get a rostrata to bloom.....is this it's first spring in Chicago? My 6foot tall, 10 year old rostrata still hasn't bloomed.
Please try to hybridize your rostrata and filamentosa (both ways) as it produces awesome looking hybrids!

Barb where the rostrata is in the yard, no ones even seeing the bloom and the yards almost completely empty since i got divorced and removed everything but the cactus bed.
Tim I have no idea but I think it has to do with the type of muck soil I have and in the yard and the fact that the water tables really close to the surface. I have had 2 trachys in the ground bloom, 2 sabal minor in ground bloomed in the past, my needle palms bloom, meditearanian palm bloomed and even my pindo bloomed. My soil loaded with nutrients I think.
