great looking Yucca in bloom. Not sure of exact ID....it appears to be some sort of Y. angustissima type? It has very narrow leaves with filaments and a racemose bloom. How tall was the bloom?
I also would say angustissima. 😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Thanks for those pics, Tim.
Never saw that on my y.filamentosa...shortage of yucca moths I suppose.
Will look for seed development in future.
Do you germinate them regularly?
Or just collect seeds to share?

Hi Barb,
give pollenation a try. Take the pollen from one Yucca plant and insert it into the flower 'tube' with a tooth pick. Best results if you do this after dark and before sunrise........so stay up late or get up early! A hybrid with the angustissima and filamentosa would be cool!

What a great yard Tim!
I admire your commitment to Yuccas-
Would love to come and see your yard sometime
if I can ever get up there to see Bill!

Hi Barb,
I hybridize Yuccas to get unusual looking Yuccas. I tend to trade mostly with people in Europe since Yuccas seem more popular there. I have seedling Yuccas all over my yard....I need another acre of land!
Hi Jim,
your welcome here anytime!
Hi Aaron,
I've heard that brevifolia can't be breed with any other Yucca........but the DNA study by Clary has brevifolia closely related to Y. rostrata. I wonder if rostrata could be hybridized with brevifolia?
