Ditto to what Paul said 😆

Have you ever considered trying aloifolia with some minor protection?

I've killed loads of Y. aloifolias over the years.......they die every winter. There was one form of Y. aloifolia which was sent to be as a Y. gloriosa but it had a serrated leaf edge.....this one actually survived a winter or two prior to dying.

It would be a nice test to protect an aloifolia so it gets more 'established'. Some day.......not this year.

Ditto here Tim. I've probably killed 20 Y. alofolias over the years. Not a chance that a pure-blood Y. alofolia will survive in my zone 5 (4)!

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Tim what a great collection of varied yuccas. I planted a 5 gal Y. aloifolia back in March. It will be protected for at least a couple of winters. First try at Y. aloifolia so here`s hoping it makes it.

Tim, sorry to hijack your thread but can't find my original post 😕

Took pics of the bloom on yucca in downtown Vernon this morning.
The soft pink/mauve sheaths are so attractive!

This next one has tons of new leaves shooting up at the same height... 😀
Probably trying to stay ahead of the invading Daylilies.

great looking Yucca in bloom. Not sure of exact ID....it appears to be some sort of Y. angustissima type? It has very narrow leaves with filaments and a racemose bloom. How tall was the bloom?

Tim, guessing nearly 4 feet, it's almost double height of yucca (about 2 feet tall or so).
the mauve/pink flower sheaths are lovely.

Have never seen those y.varieties in the nurseries, just filamentosa the last few years.
Maybe I'll have to go back in the Fall to look for suckers 😀
