Yup, same forecast here Jim. I just hope the severe storms stay to the north though. Don't need the bananas beat up by, and set way back by big hail again! Also I hope the weather holds out long enough for my y. thompsoniana's flowers to accept the pollen I gave it. You are also on my short list of people to get seed if/when I get it. All thanks to Tim in MA!

Keep us posted if any seed pods form.....it will take several days before the seed pod starts to grow.

I did the pollen thing both last Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. We were out of town from Thursday afternoon through Sunday night though. It appears the big storms did come through ahead of the big warm front and left 3.5" of new water in the pool while we were gone! Looks like there was no hail or high wind, just major rain. The yucca has only a few remaining flowers now, most fell over the weekend. I went out there again early this morning and scraped up the very last of the pollen and applied it to the last two flowers that looked like they were still good. Fingers crossed....
Jim- How can I get the weather thing in my posts? Is there an easy trick? Or is it something you have to link to every time?

I think Jay(?)can do it for you if you P.M. him.
Would be nice if everybody had one up.
It gives you a chance to compare sites on a
daily basis, which I find very interesting in regard
to seeing everyone's challenges in this hobby!

I fully agree Jim. I'll try to figure it out. I find myself looking at everyone else's all the time but my own is absent here!
Tim/Jim and others who might be interested: I just about shi@ my pants today!!! It appears that my yucca has at least 4 seed pods (fruits?) growing now!!! I think the pollen Tim sent me worked! I'll get pictures up here as soon as I can, probably tomorrow. My wife and daughter must think I'm crazy, I'm all excited about "that cactus thing" is going to make seeds! Also if anyone is interested, I did collect pollen from the mature flowers several ago. Hopefully it is as viable as Tim's... 98.7f was the high here (in Burnsville, MN) today. 81.3f was the low last night and the trend is to continue through at least the weekend. Set a record of 80+ dewpoint the other day too!

Here's a few pics showing some of the flowers turning into fruits. Looks like I have 4 fruits forming at this point. Tim's pollen was good!

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Great Job! If you like Yuccas, let me know and I can send you a box of the hardy types. Your zone 4b/5a......I'm not exactly sure what will live in your area but the glauca types will be hardy. Does standard filamentosa do OK in your area? My Yucca arkansana 'Moud City, Missouri' is starting to sucker. This 'should' be hardy in your area since it appears to have lots of glauca genes in it. What Yuccas grow in your area??
<a href="http://www.wunderground.com/US/MA/Seekonk.html?bannertypeclick=bigwx"><img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/bigwx_both_cond/language/www/US/MA/Seekonk.gif" alt="Click for Seekonk, Massachusetts Forecast" border="0" height="60" width="468" />
Tim- Thanks again for the pollen! Y. filamentosa does well in my area for sure. Several larger local garden centers stock them here in the spring. Also I sometimes see others available like red yucca (not really a yucca but cool) and small y. rostratas (Monrovia brand). I don't currently grow rostrata but have had success with Hesperaloe parviflora and a few different forms of filamentosa in addition to my protected thompsoniana.
Last summer's filamentosa bloom (my first to ever bloom here)

nice filamentosa bloom. Where did you purchase the Y. thompsoniana.....a liquor store?.........I'd love to pick up a Yucca and a case a beer in the same trip!
Please post more updates on the seed pods.
Here's a couple photos of the Yucca arkansana....it's the narrow leaf Yucca with the racemose bloom (no branches) on the left side of photo.
Here's another specimen on the other side of the house. The blooms are different which I like.
