Yucca schottii is a quick growing seedling

Strange to see the blue yuccas growing under the pine canopy.
Maybe a rockfall sent the seeds there? or birds?

Aaron, IMO it looks better trimmed.
Ever since I found a black widow spider in my big y.brevifolia (which died the first year outside), everything gets trimmed.

That pic from the Smithsonian...ugh...hate to see these things croaking.

Well, they won't win any awards now living in the cold garage but here they are...the remainder anyway.

They like too grow within the trees, very cool forests down there.

They are just east of Tombstone and West of Pearce AZ. Have you ever been to Bisbee? There is big ones growing on the sides of the hills there. Bisbee is in the Mule Mts and they are just south of the Dragoons. Nice sized ones in the Chiricahuas also. 😀

Awesome, that is were I was hoping to find some seed from. I think I seen them higher there than anywhere else. Should be some hardy agave and other stuff from there.

last winter the Bayfield Bunch did extensive touring in and around Bisbee, Arizona.
Aaron provided the link, and I followed along including my friends who were down there nearby.
Added to Aaron's photos of the Dragoons, etc., I felt like I'd been on a vacation after seeing all those pics.

You can find them growing in the wild in fun sun, but they seem too like growing among the trees. There is still plenty of light within the trees. I think they like areas with a higher moisture content, so that could be why they grow among the oaks etc... 😉

I'd love to visit those mountains too! You'd never get me out of them!! 😆
