the phaeacantha on the left gets big fast but does 'flop' over in winter. The engelmannii is more of an upright grower.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I just noticed the phaecantha on the left, I think I like that one even more than the engelmanni. That's a really nice southern mag by the way.

I just got rid of a bunch of phaeacanthas. I might have some still if you want a pad. Very much like O engl. 🙂

Aaron,
I'd love a phaeacantha if you have one left and don't mind sending me one!
I thought O. englelmanni wasn't hardy for a zone 6a.

After the snow melts and I can find one, I will. 😀

I don't know if O. engle. will make it here, only one way to find out. 😉

Hi Aaron,

that's a phaeacantha or engelmannii? Nice pads. Do you have a photo of the mother specimen in summertime when it's 'lookin good'?

Hi Aaron,

that's a phaeacantha or engelmannii?

It is only partly hardy here, but it did survive last winter, has soon as the snow melts I will give an update on that one. 😉

Oh my goodnes! Monster cacti 😀 Looks similar to those I've seen on Turkish coast, but they were dark greenish.

This is most likely the ones you seen on the Turkish coast. Opuntia ficus indica 😀
And yes they have big pads!
