Hi Aaron,

I don't have any Y. rupicola x thompsoniana............I wish I did!

I'm not sure which hybrid it is but I like yours with the 'U' shaped leaves. I guess we will be able to see more traits when it grows up a bit more...............can you read rupicola or thompsoniana on the label?

The only thing I remember for sure is it had thompsoniana in the the name, so it must be Y. flaccida x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana' I took a better pic of it today and will post it later. 😉

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Hi Aaron,

boy what a difference the view from the top makes.................this top view sure shows the reverchonii-thompsoniana genes.

The hybrids I made with reverchonii-thompsoniana are:

Y. flaccida x reverchonii-thompsoniana
Y. recurvifolia 'Tennessee' x reverchonii-thompsoniana (I ID the recurv. as a flaccida......it was sent to me as a recurv.)
Y. filamentosa x reverchonii-thompsoniana
Y. flaccida 'variegata' x reverchonii-thompsoniana (I didn't send many seeds out of this hybrid)
Y. 'constricta x filamentosa' x 'reverchonii-thompsoniana (limited seed......you probably didn't get this one).

I don't recall which types I mailed you.

I think your correct Aaron............in one of the other Yucca threads I noticed that I said I send you the Y. flaccida x rev-thomp seed.

Thanks Tim.
It is showing great signs of cold hardy genes, no cover on this gem. 8)

I'm glad to hear that hybrid is hardy in your area.........nice test. Is Y. reverchonii hardy for you?

I've never tried it, but it is hardy in LaMar's garden. 😀

good to hear Y. reverchonii can take the cold. I have a 'regular' reverchonii but it really doesn't like our climate/soils.........my guess is that it wants a higher pH soil..............need to buy some lime! The other form I have is the reverchonii-thompsoniana which appears to be an intermediate form between reverchonii and thompsoniana which grows short trunks......this one likes my climate and blooms every other year but is located under my Southern Magnolia tree........not much sun anymore............I may have to move it. 😕

3 seed grown plants are going to bloom this season........one has a red stem (like the pollen donor) and two have green stems.

Here's a photo of the pollen donor Y. reverchonii-thompsoniana......it's going to bloom too. Do you like how moss grows in pure sand in my hottest place in the yard?

I don't know if you could make that happen here, I have only seen that in pics from the east. Crazy 😯
