I'm disappointed with Yucca filametosa x elata hybrids. I have 6 different plants and only 1 appears to be trunk forming. Hopefully it will continue to trunk after it's second bloom.

Well I can't wait too see how my seed you gave me does. 😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Barb, hybrid genes are funny.........those filatas have narrow-ish leaves like elata, roots like elata, blooms like elata but don't trunk like filamentosa!

Aaron, those filata seeds are F2 so perhaps they will turn out different??

F2 means a second generation hybrid......filata #5 x filata #5. Yes you have #5 but it was crossed with #5 or with big mama.

Yes, that is a gorgeous yucca Tim.
Nice color too.

Thrilled to see my rostratas exhibiting that twist too.

Hello Tim,

This clone looks great, it seem to like to grow in your climate. It will be very interesting to see, if any of the rostrata hybrids will grow a trunk. I do not have any rostrata hybrids in this size, not even close to yours in size.

I look forward to see more photos of "my babies".

Hi Benny,

it will be interesting to see if it trunks.........and how much trunk prior to the first bloom. My taller rostrata has never bloomed and I've had it since 2002.

Here's a photo of a real Y. rostrata and the Y. filamentosa x rostrata for comparison.

Both are lovely plants. The blue really came through in the hybrid!
