Here's an update photo of my Yucca filamentosa x elata hybrid. It's an unusually large form of this hybrid. It looks even better in person. For size comparison......the Yuccas in the rear are Yucca pallida (small one on left) and Yucca recurvifolia 'narrow leaf N.J. form' on right.

Man.. That has to be one of my favorite Yuccas!

There is still a lot of variation unseen in the filata cross!

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I excavated the root area the other day but this Yucca filata has a vertical root like Y. elata. I couldn't find any roots to trim for propagation. I can only imagine it will bloom next season but maybe not since my seed grown Y. elata still has not bloomed (I germinated the elata in 2000 and it's probably 5.5 feet tall now).

How long would you say the leaves are? 😀

Oh man, that's gorgeous, both the colour and size of leaves.

You'll need a machete to get to the gate in a year or two.

the leaves are about 36 inches long. I'd like to propagate this Yucca, there seems to be lots of interest in it.

Probably a silly question.
Anybody ever tried to root leaf cuttings?

I never heard of leaf cuttings for Yucca.....but I never tried either! Once a Yucca blooms, it usually has some offsets which are super easy to propigate......I guess I'll have to wait until it blooms!
