Gotta stay in the pot though.
No room for it anywhere else.

It certainly does... what's his name 😉
The trunk looks to have frost split?

Andy,
It's never been exposed to frost, maybe the split trunk is from too much water.
Will back off on watering.
Or maybe drill really big drain holes in the base.
Guessing it might be elata?

Very lacy Barb.
I will have a couple 6' yuccas in pots this winter 😯 😉

6' yuccas in pots
The big "pruned" ones from outside?
You'll need 2x4s to hold them upright 😉
Are they going into a warm sunny spot to make roots?
Or cool?

Warm yes but not so sunny to...ahem...grow them roots....
On second thought =they need to go in the basement. 🙂

Really think that is a Yucca glauca.

Hi Barb,
nice Yucca beauty. Please get that guy in the ground outside............it should be fully hardy for you. Sure looks like elata to me but could be a form of hairy glauca too. It will grow 10x faster too!
<a href="http://www.wunderground.com/US/MA/Seekonk.html?bannertypeclick=bigwx"><img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/bigwx_both_cond/language/www/US/MA/Seekonk.gif" alt="Click for Seekonk, Massachusetts Forecast" border="0" height="60" width="468" />
Aren't the leaves too narrow to be glauca?
The planted ones I saw in town had slightly wider leaves, I thought.
get that guy in the ground outside
OK, maybe...in spring.
Didn't want one more plant to worry about when it's -20C 🙄

Hi Barb,
it's hard to ID your Yucca without a bloom. It being in a container makes it even more difficult. Sure seems to be either elata, glauca, baileyi, intermedia or angustissima.
<a href="http://www.wunderground.com/US/MA/Seekonk.html?bannertypeclick=bigwx"><img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/bigwx_both_cond/language/www/US/MA/Seekonk.gif" alt="Click for Seekonk, Massachusetts Forecast" border="0" height="60" width="468" />
Solid white margins? Y. glauca. If the trunk were twice the diameter, I'd second guess that. The elatas around here at that height have trunks 5 to 7 inches in diameter and retain far more leaves season to season before trunking. Not sure of those others listed?

Looks too me like Y. elata? I think that is not a true trunk as of yet, but where the roots are pushing it up and out of the pot?
Guessing. 😐

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
-Aaron-
All 3 of you make good points.
Yup, margins are solid white in a very thin band along both leaf edges.
Its "trunk" has always been suspect...that it's not a true trunk but maybe it was part of the root system and planted too high by me a few years ago.
Will plant it next spring for sure now.
Just to solve the mystery.
😐

the bloom will surely determine if it's a glauca or an elata.......too bad you'll have to wait a few years! 😆

Maybe not, Tim...if you'll share your yucca growing secrets with me 😉
i.e. acidic vs. alkaline soil. I know yours is acidic.
Soil pH here is 7.2, so maybe I should sprinkle Aluminum Sulphate on the soil after I've planted it?
