Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

That looks cool Aaron. 8) I have a few bacatas I grew from seed that I'm going to plant. 😀
Looking great! I seem to recall that these aren't typical trunking type Yucca and stay fairly short in stature. Do you know if that's true?
Cheers, Barrie.
Aaron, looks like quintuplets? very nice.
Presume you trimmed the old spikes to eliminate hiding places for critters?

Your right Barb, there is 4 of them. Thanks Barb. 🙂
I trimmed it up becuase yuccas sucker so fast here that it was just getting to big, so I trimmed it up so I could get to the suckers. 🙂

Thanks Barrie. You are right, they do not grow much of a trunk. But I have seen one place by the Grand Canyon that they had 3-4 ft trunks, but most were growing along the ground. 🙂

Aaron,
that yucca looks very tropical and deserty like with it trimmed up.
I prefer that look over it's natural look.

Thanks Wes 😀
I like them trimmed up also, but is hard to get that good balance between clean but not formal look. 😆 Makes it much easier to keep the suckers/weeds out. Takes up less space. 😉
Here is a more recent pic after another trim job.

Nice. That looks cool Aaron. 8)
I prefer that look, Aaron. Makes it look old. Very nice.
Wonder what'd happen if a Yucca filamentosa were trimmed...
Do you guys think a trunk could be forced in a plant that doesn't trunk?

Not likley Barb. You can't change the genetic make-up trough trimming. You may wind up with a base that gives the impression it's about to trunk. Similar things happen here with Sword Fern (Polystichum munitum). It's not a trunking or tree fern but large old specimen have large bases without leaves creating the effect it's about to start to form a trunk.

Yes I do. I have one that I forced to trunk, but takes alot of work. It will never grow a huge trunk, but a nice small one.
Not a recent pic. But is still growing and doing good. 🙂

Interesting, guys.
Aaron, that does look like it was a lot of work, but nevertheless makes for a very interesting looking plant.
Would high winds be likely to break the top-heavy growth on yours?
I may try it next year with one of my six filamentosa that are planted on a rocky slope...
Nice research Aaron!

Mine has done very well in the wind it is much stonger than it looks. 😀 It looked much cooler before, it use to have a branch growing straight up right before the bend, but I took one to many crowns off and the last one died so I cut the trunk of where it bends. 🙁
I hoped it would regrow one in the same spot but no luck. 😆

Aaron, I think it looks really cool bent like that (now that the other straight up crown is gone) 😕
At least you didn't lose the plant!
I'll take your advice and not cut too much of the crown(s) off.
Yours actually looks like one of those great trees bent by the wind at the ocean's edge.
Thanks.
