Had a chance to take some pics this morning.
Totally unprotected during winter.
Likely a big benefit from the adjacent apartment building and pavement.

I should try heading back there.
But I'm not often in town.

Any idea when I might find some mature seeds? a week from now? a month?

Since it's next to a fire hydrant, probably lots of dog pee if I wait until they fall on the ground. 😆 😆

I hope she can get seed from them?(no moths?) Those have the red people love, you should see seed pods in a month if a moth finds them.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

oh yea, forgot about the elusive moth! 👿

Location is right across from the RCMP station...do I dare try some pollinating with a brush?
Might get arrested for lascivious behaviour (or whatever it's called). 😳 :bs:

So, without "the moth", there'd be no viable seeds???? 😡

Very nice Barb. I kinda remember those yuccas after being
let out of the cop shop early morning. 😀

Just kidding!

Good one Jay 😆 😆

So...the mystery remains whether they can have viable seeds without the yucca moth.
Maybe a very tall dog's spray might do it?

too bad Yuccas need a moth..........................I found these markers on my Yucca flowers this afternoon........somebody was in my yard hybridizing my Yuccas with Paul's rostrata pollen and Aaron's baccata pollen! Oh yea.....it was me. ( see the black and white markers??). 😆

PS you need some moths...........GOT PLENTY!! SEE them in the photo below???

Too bad we got those horrible beetles too.....see the 'hole' in the unopened flower??

Cool, Tim, that you're working on crossing them.
It'll be super to see how the hybrids perform.
Hope they get the best traits of each.

Heck, if you've got yucca moths in MA, maybe they're around here somewhere too. 🙂

I forgot what kind of beetles are wrecking your flowers.

I take considerable pleasure in squishing the box elder beetles that are crawling all over my Trachy flowers.
And the y. rostrata too.
(squish, squish, squish 😆 😆 )

Hi Barb

The beetles are about 1/4" long half brown and half black. Here's a photo from last year.

PS, let us know if those Yuccas form seed......we'll know if the Yucca moth is in your area.
