Does de-lidding (like with scarring/filing palm seeds) ever work for old yucca seeds?

Hi Barb,

I've never tried de-lidding a Yucca seed before????

Marceli,

don't give up on the 2009 seed............a Y. whippeli (elevation 6,200 feet) germinated for me 5 months after I sowed them...............keep in mind I started with 15 seeds and only 1 germinated...............this was older seed too.

I like that you used word when, not if 😆

I paid my yuccas a visit today:

Y. gloriosa:

Y. baccata:

Y. glauca:

Y. elegantissima:

Y. (?): <-- sorry Barb. That hole in cover has appeared again 😀

Y. gloriosa, exactly at the same day in 2012:
... and today:

That hole in cover has appeared again icon_biggrin.gif

too neat a cut for it to have been an animal.
Plastic fatigue. 😆 😆

Everything came through winter really well, including the mystery yucca.
Good work.
And lots of room in there for more.

I'm guilty as charged 😉
Can't wait to plant other species, plus I can expand my polytunnel in future. Once yucca - always yucca 😆
