Hi guys! :) I'd like to show my yuccas in this cold piece of land, called Poland ;)Y. gloriosaIt looked awful after last winter. I was worried it won't make it! The beginning of April:The beginning of August:The other one with less winter damage. April:It was their first winter outdoor. Min. temp.: -30C / -22F for almost 2 weeks :shock: August:This the species I'd like to ask you about. ID please, if possible. Bought it as glauca, but few people told me it's not glauca at all. Photos:Here's how they looked like after planting:After the winter:What species might it be? Any clues?I also planted Y. baccata, Y. glauca, Y. recurvifolia, Y. Elegantissima (probably). that Y. filata #5 seedling is germinating 'normal'...........I'm glad to see them growing. That Y. filata #5 is the best looking filata in my garden since it looks great in spring, summer, winter and fall. Many Yuccas look awful in spring after winter.

They do look weird germinating that way.
Like some of my palm seeds that want to crawl out.

Hi Marceli,

great photo............I think the lack of sand/soil on top of the seed is causing that. I recall seeds starting to form a root but the root tip is 'stuck' at the soil surface..........the root continues to grow and lengthen which pushes the seed up........then it falls over like your photo. Do you think this is happening?

I cover my Yuccas seeds with a layer of sand so I cannot see any seeds.

It's very likely. Most seeds are pushed up by the roots. I used only perlite & vermiculite mix this time. Sand was added after germination occured, but it was too late 😀
